The Basic Plus Structure includes the following components:
  • Front Matter
  • Introduction
  • Pre-Repeated Measure
  • Pre Confidence
  • Pre Practice
  • Pre Knowledge
  • Pre Competence
  • Pre Test Score
  • Course Content
  • References
  • Learner Feedback
  • Post Knowledge
  • Post Competence
  • Pre/Post Review
  • Post Repeated Measure
  • Post Confidence
  • Post Practice
  • Evaluation
  • Certification

Front Matter: Use this component to build program information for your course (sections include General/Certificate Information, Learning Objectives, Faculty, Disclosures/ Accreditation Statements, etc.). Content is collected via commentary fields, drop-down menus and items from the Author Tool Kit.

Introduction: Use this component to provide a brief description for your course.

Pre-Repeated Measure: A Repeated Measure question introduces a brief clinical scenario to a learner followed by a series of statements, each of which needs to be designated as either consistent or non-consistent with evidence-based best practice. These statements are meant to assess the learners’ knowledge of the latest published data, assessment and diagnostic tools, pertinent clinical guidelines, as well as their ability to actively apply their knowledge to the clinical scenario presented. Overall, this question is designed to evaluate what the learner would actually do if a patient such as this presented to their practice.

Pre Confidence: Likert-5 question(s) that assess a learner’s overall confidence level in managing patients with symptoms and conditions discussed in the course.

Pre Practice: Likert-5 question(s) that assess a learner’s practice patterns in managing patients with symptoms and conditions discussed in the course.

Pre Knowledge: Question(s) that assess a learner's knowledge of the topic area (i.e., latest guidelines, clinical trial results).

Pre Competence: Question(s) that assess a learner’s diagnostic and/or management skills in the course topic area and their ability to apply knowledge to a clinical situation. Competence questions are typically presented in the format of a “mini-case.”

Pre Test Score: This component allows the learner to view the score they obtained at the Pre test (but not the answers to each question). You have the option to show the average and median scores, and the distribution of answers per question.

Activity Content: Use this component to enter course content. Slides, graphics or video clips can be included.

References: This component presents a master list of all references that appear in a course. No additional work is required to populate this component, as it is auto-generated.

Learner Feedback: This page allows the learner to provide feedback and rate a course. No additional work is required to populate this component.

Post Knowledge: Question(s) that re-assess the learner's knowledge of the topic area (i.e., latest guidelines, clinical trial results). Questions in this component are paired with the Pre-Knowledge questions.

Post Competence: Question(s) that re-assess a learner’s diagnostic and/or management skills in the course topic area and their ability to apply knowledge to a clinical situation. Competence questions are typically presented in the format of a “mini-case.” Questions in this component are paired with the Pre-Competence questions.

Pre/Post Test Review: This component allows the learner to view the correct responses to Pre and Post Test questions, along with response distributions. You have the option to show response distributions and show the paired Pre and Post Test questions side-by-side.

Post Repeated Measure: In this component, learners have the opportunity to change their designation of statements in the consistent or non-consistent columns from when they were first presented the clinical scenario in the Pre Repeated Measure component.

Post Confidence: Likert-5 question(s) that re-assess a learner’s overall confidence level in managing patients with symptoms and conditions discussed in the course. Questions are slightly modified from the Pre Confidence component to indicate a change of confidence after participating in a course.

Post Practice:  Likert-5 question(s) that re-assess a learner’s practice patterns in managing patients with symptoms and conditions discussed in the course. Questions are slightly modified from the Pre Practice component to indicate an intended change in practice after participating in a course.

Evaluation: Use this component to enter post-course assessment questions. The questions are entered and selected from the Author Tool Kit.

Certification: This component allows a learner to claim credit earned for completing a course. Certificate information is entered in the Front Matter component. No additional work is required to populate this component, as it is auto-generated.
